I adopted two cats from Ollie's Place, at separate times. My cat had recently died and I visited Ollie's Place at the suggestion of my wonderful vet. I wasn't looking to adopt, just give to a shelter or perhaps volunteer.
I fell in love with this little orange guy with perfect paws and a "show tail"; however, it wasn't his looks that snagged me. It was his coy and playful personality. I briefly volunteered and got to know him. I was told he never left his cage, where the cats are allowed to run and play, a few times a day. This troubled me. Why so rough and tumble in the cage, but unable to venture out?
I adopted him and he remained under the couch for at least 3 months, although I could tell he was making progress every day.
Francis became so attached to me that I became convinced he needed a friend. I knew his sister was still at Ollie's Place and ten times as shy but they are family, so we finally made the decision to adopt her. On her first night here she ran around and pounced on Francis! She sat in the window! She ate a treat out of my hand! She astonished us all! She is a precious part of this family. Her name is Dalai.
